A Great Gift

Our neighbor, Alicia bought Lillian a "Sorry you broke your arm" gift.  She gave her a face painting set, and it turns out Lillian is a pretty good one handed face painter!  She had fun painting her friends faces at Ava's house today.  And holding a cute puppy dog always lifts spirits too!

Starting To Smile

Nothing makes a kid happier than beating their mom at cards!

Rally Party

As you can imagine, Lillian is feeling pretty sorry for herself, and Emma is feeling partially responsible.  Thank god for family...we hosted an impromptu dinner and everyone had a chance to attempt to lift Lillian's spirits.  She is pretty uncomfortable and probably will be until she gets her hard cast on Monday.

A Big Oops....

Just as the weather starts to warm up, the school year comes to a close and we're starting to feel "freer" from quarantine, tragedy strikes the Kerschen household.  The kids were being so helpful, enthusiastically painting the basement walls with us.  We took a break for dinner and a little backyard play - when Lillian and Emma decided to jump off the swings in the backyard.  Joseph videotaped the whole thing, Lillian missed the opportune jumping moment and fell face first - or wrist first - onto the ground.  All 3 kids came running into the house - saying "Lillian broke her arm!".  I tried calling Mike, who had just left on a Home Depot run, quickly sent Emma home and loaded both kids in the back of the van - seatbelt free, supporting Lillian's visibly bent arm with ice packs.  We drove straight to urgent care, they took one look at her arm and referred us on to Children's Hospital.  Mike and Joseph weren't able to go with us into the hospital (Covid rules), so we called with updates all throughout the night.  Poor Lillian broke both bones in her arm, had to have her arm reset and was finally discharged at 1 AM.

Neighborhood Critters

That smile says it all...Joseph enjoys fishing after dinner with Daddy!

We've enjoyed seeing the foxes throughout the neighborhood this Spring (and we especially enjoy seeing less rabbits because of them!).  A neighbor posted these pictures of a fox family living under someone's porch.  The black ones are especially beautiful!

And the final neighborhood critter...a squirrel in our back yard - who is actually sitting at the picnic table Mike built for him - haha!  Of course, Joseph named him "Bob".

Sammy's 5th Birthday

You can't tell, but while we partied in the garage, rain poured down in waves.  The skies opened up just as we gathered to celebrate Sammy's Covid birthday bash.  Guess that makes it more memorable?

Mother's Day

I've always appreciated Colorado's sunshine and frequency of sunny days - but now that it's safer to be outside - we all depend on sunny days!  Mother's Day did not disappoint.  We enjoyed a delicious brunch, yard games and face to face conversation in Ian and Kim's new backyard.
