Boys will be Boys

This 1/2 naked little boy spent the afternoon catching bugs and critters in the garden.  It doesn't get much simpler than that.

Weber Race For Education

Jak was so excited about his Race at school today and the weather gods shined down on him.  He raised $100 for his school by asking neighbors and family to "response" him.  He just couldn't get the hang of saying "sponsor".

 Marcus
 Tyler
 Kendrix
 Joseph
He insisted on having a Nike Swoosh on his shirt, to make him run faster.  I didn't have a Nike shirt that fit him anymore, so he asked me to draw one on.  Daddy wrote him a note that morning, and Joseph insisted on wearing that as well.  This kid cracks me up!  It must have helped, because he ran 28 laps, more than the rest of his class.

Chatfield Corn Maze

Perhaps corn mazes are designed with older kids in mind!  Casey and I thought it would be fun to show the kids something new, 2 minutes into the maze, Lillian asked me which way she should turn.  I had to admit I had no idea.  Which could have been fun if the weather was nice, but unfortunately, it wasn't.  It was threatening to rain/spitting on us the whole time we were there.  And when we had been "comfortably lost" for about 45 minutes, it started to pour.  We scrambled, and found our way out but not before we all got a little soaked and a lot muddy!  We said, very quick goodbyes and giggled as we pulled away.  Only to discover the rain came down harder on our drive home.  It was a white knuckled drive but we both made it home safe and sound with a good story to share!

Natalie was not about to be left behind!  The corn was at least 8 feet high - I can only imagine what it looked like to her!

1/2 Day Kindergarten Is Pretty Cool

Weber Elementary made pinwheels and decorated the front lawn today.  What a cheerful and welcoming site it was to pull up to the school and see the happy kids displaying their homemade pinwheels.  We went out to lunch afterwards to celebrate the little things.

Camping Again

Since I'm not working, I love prepping for our camping trip while the kids are at school and Mike is at work. We pull out of the neighborhood minutes after Daddy gets home and we literally feel the stress staying behind in Denver, as we drive up the hill.

Writing

Jak has learned how to write "I Love You Too!".  He wrote this message on sticky notes and spread them all over the Standley Lake Library today.  Spreading the love that fills his heart!

Mike Nelson Visits St. Anne's

What a performance!  This guy is so passionate about Colorado Weather and he makes sure the kids get excited as well.  Lillian loved seeing Mike Nelson again and having him come to her school.

Fall Camping....The Kerschen's Favorite Season!

The pool has closed for the season, school is back in session, Labor Day has passed and most people feel summer is over...and the Colorado Kerschen's LOVE IT!  This is our favorite time of year to camp.  We have the mountains to ourselves (if you ignore the hunters!).  The nights are cool, daddy wakes up early to hunt, and we sleep in and relax in the camper while we wait for the sun to warm things up outside.  We play games, do worksheets, make gourmet breakfasts and giggle while we wait for Dad to come back from his morning hunt.  Then we get outside to explore!  This is our idea of heaven!

Double Birthday Celebration

Now that Mom and Dad live in Colorado, I imagine this might become a tradition!  Mike and I treated my parents to a night of unique ambiance and history.  We took them to the Buckhorn Exchange  - home to Denver's 1st Liquor License, lots of notable cowboy scuffles, brawls and shootouts and local game such as Buffalo, Elk, Rattle Snake, Quail and more.  It was a delicious, and unique experience!
The kids decorated presents for Mommy, while I was getting dressed.  They were proud to show off their artwork (with wet hair fresh out of the shower/bath!).

Children's Museum

Jak and I picked up Lillian from school and headed straight to the Children's Museum for Free Day.  They have outgrown some of the museum exhibits, but discovered other areas that really cater to their age group.  As you can imagine, I had a hard time getting them outta there!
