Botanic Gardens

Our Botanic Garden membership is ending at the end of this month, so despite the chilly weather, we headed downtown to stroll around.   It is such a beautiful place - even this early in the season!

YMCA Auction

Fun night out at the Lamar Center raising money for the YMCA.

Steve, Jen, Mike & I with Tom & Emily - Mike & I were lame and chose not to dress as super heroes.  But we were not the minority!

RACE For Education

It's not just about the running!  These kids run hard, raise money for the school and have such a great team building day at the Race For Education!  I'm so glad Joseph was able to skip out of school and enjoy part of the experience today.  Next year - he'll be running his heart out too!

Re-Establishing Neighborhood Friendships

The weather's warming up, the evenings are lighter longer and we're out and about as often as we can be!  We took Emma for an adventure walk to the neighborhood pond to explore this afternoon.  The kids have been really into creating arts and crafts projects in the front yard and just generally soaking up the sunshine.

A Little Culture at School

A few members of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra performed at St. Anne's this afternoon.  They not only performed, they quizzed the kids on their musical knowledge, teaching us a few things along the way.  Joseph and I headed over to the library to play for an hour while Lillian finished up at school.  The librarian was so impressed with his creation that she took a picture of it to display for other kids!

Touring the Arvada Police Station

The Lillian's Girl Scout Troop got a behind the scenes look at law enforcement tonight.  They really got a kick out of hanging out in a holding cell for a bit.  Of course, their smiles vanished quickly when someone threatened to lock the bars!

Camping In April

Well the Hanou Clan may be a bit tooo anxious to kick off the camping season.  Opa reserved 4 campsites on Carter Lake for the weekend and the weather gods taught us a lesson in what Springtime in the Rockies really is!  We were cold, wet and muddy most of the weekend but these cousins didn't care.  Hot chocolate and S'mores taste even better in weather like this!  We played lots of games, watched movies, hiked a little, enjoyed the campfire and Ian and Jak were able to catch a fish.  My favorite picture is the one of our shoes, stripped off at the doorstep, so we wouldn't trash the interior of Mom & Dad's RV!
