A Memorial in Maryland

We celebrated the loss of my best childhood friends mother this past weekend.  Mrs. Hebdon was a second mother to me.  She was strict and firm but also loving and funny!  She scared me to death, but took me to some amazing places!  I have so many fond memories of the Hebdon family growing up - they taught me how to play Red Light, Green Light, Mother May I and tons of other backyard birthday party games, had the coolest backyard pool and hot tub, let Amanda and I concoct crazy experimental cooking recipes while pretending to be on a cooking show in their kitchen, helped me get over my fear of dogs and trusted me to watch their dogs while they were out of town, took me boating (such a luxury back then!), took me to the Cayman Islands and helped me conquer my fear of heights by parasailing, and Mrs. Hebdon tutored me when high school math became to difficult!  Amanda is still more like family to me than just a friend.  She gave the most beautiful eulogy and tribute to her mom at the memorial service.  Amanda captured everything that was funny and serious about her mom and I was absolutely in awe of how strong she was!  You would have made your mother so proud Amanda!
