Making a strange visit - less strange

Just when we thought it was safe to finally make plans to see our Michigan family, several teachers at the kids school contracted Covid.  St. Anne's shut down for 2 weeks and Cathy and the kids cancelled their trip (they just couldn't risk getting sick and missing school/work when they returned to Michigan).  John & Candy decided to come see us anyway.  The first night we met them in our backyard and enjoyed a short outdoor visit.  The next night we drove (separately) up to Lake Granby.  They stayed in our friend John's house and we stayed in our camper.  We were able to hike and explore Rocky Mountain National Park, we ate meals together, just at separate tables or outside.  But at least we got to be together and catch up in person!  What a strange year is has been.

While we were in Granby, a huge wildfire broke out - the East Troublesome Fire.  Below is a picture from the smoke as it crept closer and closer to where we were staying.  Several days after we returned from our weekend in Granby, we learned that the Troublesome fire "blew up", growing from 18,000 acres to 188,000 acres in one day.  It caused so much damage, forests were demolished, 366 homes and 214 outbuildings were destroyed causing so much heart ache for the Grand Lake Community.
