We've seen Holden perform in a few different plays now, but this one knocked them all out of the park! She portrayed an excellent version of Mrs. Muir in"Thoroughly Modern Millie". Mrs. Muir runs a hotel/hostel for young women, she particularly likes young, orphaned girls so that she can sell them into slavery. Not a particularly light subject for a children's play! But the Arvada Center portrayed it with humor and somehow the heaviness of the subject, subtly went over the kids heads. Holden was almost unrecognizable in her Kimono, Black Asian wig and Asian - American Accent.
We laughed throughout the play, but especially when Jak realized it was Holden under that get up, he called out (loudly!) "Holden!", the crowd chuckled and even Holden cracked a smile on stage.
