Happy Birthday Bert!

And it was...possibly the happiest birthday Uncle Bert has had in years.  For some reason, Bert is thriving in Colorado.  Perhaps his new assisted living environment is just the right living situation for him, or perhaps the fresh mountain air is good for his soul.  Whatever it is, Bert is healthier, less anxious, and therefore less needy than he's ever been.  Which means, caring for him is a whole lot easier for Opa! We got together at Marycrest last night and celebrated Bert's birthday in the family dining room.

Art & Marilyn always, always make time for us when they're driving through Colorado.  They never get to stay long, or stay for a meal, but it means so much to us that they go out of their way to visit us.  We took a nice walk down to the lake and watched the pool get prepped for summer....Yahoo!

A Finale to 15 Years!

 It's the end of an era!  I have been contemplating leaving the Village at Lowry for 6 years now - ever since Lillian was born.  The thought of leaving has always struck an emotional cord with me.  I have loved my 15 years as the Activity Director for the Greatest Generation.  However, this past year has been really hard.  Mike is working 12 hour days almost every day, the kids are at 2 different schools and I've been torn between them (and events occurring in their lives) and work.  Today was my farewell party at work and I didn't shed a tear.  I will miss the comradary of my coworkers and of course the love and familial friendship of so many residents and families.  But I am SO excited to give 100% to my husband and kids.  They deserve to live and have an epic summer off of school, and be involved in a variety of activities during the school year.  So I am ready to "retire"!

Godparents Again!

 It was such an honor to be asked to help mentor this girls spiritual life!  Today Mike and I became Godparents for the lovely Graceyn, as she was officially baptized in the Catholic Church.

 We had a nice brunch at our house before and let the kids get their wiggles out.  Graceyn took the sacrament very seriously and did a fantastic job (much better than the 2 babies who were anointed with her!).

Mom's Last Saturday To Work

It's my last Saturday as Manager on Duty at the Village at Lowry.  And....I have senior-itis!  So I brought the kids with me to play and show off to the residents.  

It was such a nice warm day and we had so much fun splashing in the fountains in Lowry Town Center, so we stopped by the Peter Pan Park in Westminster on the way home and splashed some more!

Early Mother's Day Celebrations

We kicked off the mother's day weekend with breakfast at Little People's Landing.  And both kids came home from school this afternoon with handmade gifts for me.  They were both so proud of their artwork.  Lillian made a picture frame covered in puzzle pieces and Joseph decorated a tote bag for me - both with their sweet smiling faces on them!

Officially 6!

 I played hooky and went into work late today, to spend the morning with this cutie.  Afterall, she and Joseph are the reason I'm leaving a job I love.  She got an out-of-uniform pass and jumped at the chance to wear a pretty dress today.  She was called up during morning assembly to announce her name and birthday.  She grabbed the microphone, and proudly announced herself just like we rehearsed.  I can't wait to enjoy more moments like these.
