Beautiful Summer Weekend on the Lake

Summer is still in full effect despite school being back in session.  We are so lucky to escape reality and pretend we are "island time" on the weekends!

 

Special Friends...

So far the strangest part of being at a new school is that I don't know the teachers or the other parents.  The kids are so happy, they're making friends and fitting in already - so that, of course, makes me happy. But at pick up I don't know many people.  Thank God for Emily Johnson!  She is a fellow swim team mom, who also has a 4th grade son and 6th grade daughter.  I am going to try not to overwhelm her with homework texts and such!   Today, while I was at work, I received the following amazing text message:

Soaking up the Last Days of Summer

 

Michigan

 Finally, a vacation for Dad! Except, flight times were very impractical and expensive, so we chose to drive to Michigan this year.  Not the most relaxing way to travel, but the kids were road warriors and handled the drive much better than he feared, and Mike was able to bring home a bunch of Grandpa's hunting gear that he was parting with.  It was a fantastic trip as usual, but the highlight might have been attending the Evans' Family Reunion on our last night.  This family knows how to party!  It was hard to tear ourselves away - especially knowing we were facing a 17 hour drive home!
